40 days until the big day!
Our Story
Once upon a time, there was a girl from Shanghai, China. She grew up playing classical piano, and ballroom dancing. Being exposed to the western culture through music, art and Hollywood movies, she dreamt of studying in the US one day.
And there was a boy also from Shanghai, China. He grew up... playing with clothes hangers and rocks. Then he moved with his parents to the US. He dreamt of flying an airplane one day.
Many years later, awkwardly set up by her aunt and his mom, they meet for the first time in the summer of 2021, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. They were sat down next to each other. Not being able see each other's faces, they talked for five minutes at a two-hour dinner. But due to the circumstances, they couldn't exchange numbers until they meet again a year later. This time, in Washington DC, no awkward family staring around.
After a seven-hour first date over delicious crabs by the waters in Maryland, they knew they wanted to see each other again. And amidst momentary initial doubts that crept in, they looked at each other and thought, "this might be it."
Against the backdrop of busy D.C. schedules, they laughed, danced, traveled, and talked about the economy and interest rates. During a year long courtship, they found the best soup dumplings, that jazz bar on U Street, concerts with Beyonce and Dave Matthews, and a fondness for each other. When the times were rough, they step up and showed appreciation, respect, and love for each other. Then the rest, as they say, is history.
To the family and friends who are dear to us, it is you who played an important role in taking us where we are today. So thank you, and we hope to see you at our wedding!
